Husqvarna 450 Rancher Review

Husqvarna 450 is known for some of the best chainsaw design these days. They definitely know how to build a good chainsaw and the 450 is no different. Reliable, nice quality, suitable for heavy duty and built to last.

Husqvarna 450 Engine:

Husqvarna 450 review - X-Torq feature looks promising

Husqvarna 450 is equipped with Husqvarna’s ‘X-torq’ engine design. This is a system that Husky has developed for 2 stroke engines which are supposed to result in a 20% reduction in fuel consumption and a 75% reduction in emissions. It is a 50cc engine so offers plenty of power for a saw of this size.

Husqvarna 450 Comfort:

Husqvarna 450 - Ergonomic Handle for Increased Comfort

Husky makes some of the best chainsaw features for comfort. Like the rest of their range, they have incorporated an ergonomic rear handle design as well as vibration dampers which will make a big difference in your fatigue levels over extended periods of use.

Husqvarna 450 Safety:

Husqvarna 450 - Chain Brake Feature for Safety

As you would expect from any modern saw, the Husqvarna chainsaw comes with an inertia activated chain brake which stops the chain in the event of kickback. Its lightweight (11.24 lbs) makes it easy to handle and reduces fatigue.

Husqvarna 450 Other Features:

As you probably know, starting can be a real pain on some chainsaws and this can really ruin an otherwise good saw. Fortunately, Husqvarna has developed an ingenious air bleed system which purges the air from the carburetor on startup, meaning it gets a suitably rich mixture to fire it up which then returns to normal during operation.

Another useful innovation of the Husqvarna 450 chainsaw is the easy access cylinder cover, which allows you to quickly change the spark plug on the job should it be necessary.

Husqvarna 450 has a simple but very good feature – visible fuel level. It acts as a window to the fuel tank, providing a handy glance at how much fuel is left without the need of popping open the fuel cap.

Husqvarna 450 Safety

Husqvarna 450 has the LowVib feature. As the name implies, this feature reduces the vibration levels of the chainsaw significantly. This reduces the fatigue inflicted on the operator so that the operator will be less tired and have better control for longer periods. This is a very important feature because excessive vibration can also cause permanent injury to the hands. The Husqvarna 450 also has an ergonomic rear handle. The asymmetrical handle has an ergonomic trigger to easily power the chainsaw and a soft inlay for comfort while using the chainsaw.

Safety problems can often arise when maintaining or repairing the chainsaw. However, the Husqvarna 450 has a snap-lock cylinder to make it easy for you to change the spark plugs. It’s a snap-off-snap-back mechanism for continuous and safe use. The quick release air filter will let you clean the air filter easily without disassembling other parts just to get to it. Addressing engine flooding is also easy because of the choke/stop control. You only have to activate the combined choke control in order to regulate the flow of fuel. These, and other, features make the Husqvarna 450 one of the safest chainsaws around, but it must be remembered that any chainsaw is potentially lethal. Therefore it follows that a chainsaw must be treated with care and respect.

Selecting the right type of saw

There are three main categories of chainsaws depending on the degree of work that it will do: Lightweight, Middleweight, and Heavyweight. The former contains saw bars measuring 8-12 inches while heavyweight models have longer lengths that would sometimes exceed 20 inches. At 20 inches, the Husqvarna 450 is a middleweight power tool that is perfect for cutting logs for firewood, pruning, tree felling. An excellent sized saw for most DIY jobs.

Conclusion: Husqvarna 450 is a great all-around chainsaw that would suit anyone from domestic yard keepers who want a quality saw to professionals needing a backup chainsaw. Husqvarna 450 chainsaw is light enough to be very comfortable to use. It has everything you will need to stay safe and the extra features are well thought out. I would recommend it to anyone.
